Our Meetings

Our monthly meetings give you an opportunity to network and learn about what is going on in the industry

The Atlanta BDPA is building a stronger relationship with the community. We conduct monthly events to introduce our organization to potential members. Those monthly events serve as moments of celebration. We celebrate the successes of our associates in the IT field, sharing experiences and accolades to bolster our members, and share our successes, which serve as motivational moments for everyone who attends.

These events also serve as recruiting sessions for potential job placement, as well as forums for the exposure of hot new technologies. Our monthly events serve as doorways to opportunity. Take the time to attend one of our meetings and join our network.

Build your network, leverage your network, and create an opportunity.

College Collegiate Program

Our College Collegiate program is a partnership between the Atlanta BDPA chapter and surrounding colleges

Atlanta BDPA is dedicated to the cultivation and growth of corporate professionals from the classroom to the boardroom. This BDPA core principle is exhibited in our Collegiate Liaison Program. The CLP is intended to develop a strong relationship between Atlanta BDPA, its corporate sponsors, and Atlanta Metro area colleges and universities. The program is designed to provide internship, mentoring, and employment opportunities for collegiate students at the graduate and post-graduate level.

The program provides a dedicated pipeline of opportunity for Atlanta BDPA, its corporate sponsors, and its college/university partners. Students receive superior mentoring and exposure opportunities, and get a first-hand account of life in the corporate world. The program also provides growth opportunities for students as mentors. By participating as mentors in the Atlanta BDPA HSCC program, collegiate participants get to share what they have learned as part of the collegiate program with High School students seeking to grow from the knowledge they can provide. It represents an outstanding opportunity for effective relationship building, establishing connections from seasoned professionals, to prospective newly minted professionals, to candidates at the earliest stages of education.

The Atlanta BDPA collegiate program is designed to effectively implement change in our communities, by adhering to the BDPA mandate stated above, from the classroom to the boardroom.

S.I.T.E.S

Introduces minority high school students to the field of Information Technology through training classes and seminars

The Student Information Technology Education and Scholarship (S.I.T.E.S) program was designed to introduce minority high school students to the field of Information Technology through training classes and seminars. Through this program, participating students are able to acquire important business and life skills such as:

  • Public speaking
  • Creating and developing presentations
  • Goal setting
  • Team building
  • Time management

The S.I.T.E.S program initiative started over 20 years ago by BDPA in an effort to encourage minority students to learn and participate in the Information Technology field. This program has grown extensively over the years and is the umbrella program for several educational programs dedicated to the objective of developing high school students in the field of Information Technology. These educational programs include:

  • HSCC - High School Computer Competition
  • YTC - Youth Technology Camp
  • ACE - Advance Computer Education
  • IT Showcase

In addition to introducing students to the Information Technology field, we encourage them to pursue a college education and provide support for this endeavor by offering opportunities to win scholarships and the ability to participate in internships within the Information Technology field.

Community Outreach

The Community Outreach program allows our members to give back to the community

Atlanta BDPA is dedicated to the growth of our community and the development of its people. This is a core function of our organization as a community enabler both for our active members, and the community we serve. Outreach entails implementing motivating initiatives that take place at the grassroots level within the areas we serve. We focus on first-hand delivery of service and support to the organizations we engage, such as the North Fulton Community Charities, and Wellspring Living.

The effectiveness of our outreach program is achieved by identifying and addressing the needs of the community directly. As an organization we serve in a capacity that provides both growth and support through effective communication, meaningful growth, and positive long-lasting relationships.

As our organization is an IT focused organization it is our intent to utilize technology where we can to aide our efforts, and enrich the lives of others. The key principles of our initiative are empowering individuals, streamlining services through the effective utilization and implementation of technology and process, increased accountability maintaining a requisite level of responsibility from our members, and the growth of our own membership effectiveness through the relationships we build within the community. We firmly believe that our community outreach program will enrich the lives of our members just as much as it does the people we seek to support.

The Atlanta BDPA outreach program is one of the most rewarding aspects of our organization, allowing our members to affect change directly at the local level, influencing the behaviors and choices of the people we encounter through positive interaction and fulfilling relationships. Through this work, Atlanta BDPA is living up to its mandate of building and growing a stronger Atlanta BPDA, and more importantly making a difference for the better in our communities.
